Anville
Welcome to Anville!
Anville is a furry artist and maker collective based in Somerville, MA. We welcome creatives from all over the Boston area to meet, collaborate, organize, and create. Our mission is to build spaces that facilitate connection, solidarity, hope, and mutual aid. Art is the medium; community is the goal.
What is Anville?
We are a loosely organized network of furry creatives who host regular in-person meetups. We are not an organization with formal leadership. At our meetups we chat, meet new people, work on projects, and share skills. We welcome any and all expressions of creativity: studio art, digital art, fiber arts, writing, poetry, web design, programming, electronics projects, 3D printing, fabrication, and everything in between. You don't need to be "furry enough" or "artistic enough" to be welcome in our space.
Our name is a contraction of "Anthro Somerville".
Why furries?
If you're part of the furry community, then you know: we look out for each other. We fund each other's healthcare. We house each other. We show up for one another.
Furries value artists; we have our own economy that respects the work of creatives and cares about compensating them, which is especially important right now.
Furries accept each other as we are, because the diversity of identities that intersect in this community mean that we know what it's like to be pushed to the margins.
How can I get involved?
Come to one of our events! You can find many of them on the Somerville Furry Events calendar.
